7 Ways to Freak Out Your Cat

Cats can nap anywhere and at a moment’s notice. In fact, Author, James Herriot said, “cats are connoisseurs of comfort.” Cats by nature love to relax and are nap enthusiasts, but they also get spooked quite easily.

We may say that a person is, “nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs,” if they are incredibly anxious. Luckily, there probably aren’t too many cats hanging around a room filled with rocking chairs. To be honest, If I were a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, I’d freak out too. I’ve found seven other ways to freak out a cat — whether or not they have a long tail.

1. Thunderstorms/thunder

One of the scariest things for cats is the sound of thunder overhead. I’ve never met a cat that hasn’t reacted in some way to that sound. My cat, Harper slinks across the floor Viet Nam style to find a safe place to hide at the first sound of thunder. Her favorite place to hide is in the cabinet under the sink in the guest bathroom. Once she’s in there, I don’t see her again until the storm is long gone.

My cat, Hermione, is the same way. She’s a little braver than Harper and will hang out with me longer, but when that thunder…
