Adopting A Cat Makes A House A Home

I’ve kept cats for most of my life. During that time, I’ve realized that adding a cat to the household really changes it. It turns your house or apartment into a home.

There are so many reasons to adopt feline friends. The number one reason is that adopting a feline friend can be life-changing for you and the feline. People with pets usually live longer than people who don’t have pets. Their mere presence helps us humans reduce stress and they bring laughter almost every day.

Adding a cat to the household changes how we live in that space.

For one thing, that sliding glass door to a balcony or deck becomes more than just an entry or exit point to the home. It becomes a neighborhood watch post.

I have three cats, and at least two of them take a shift looking out the sliding glass doors. I often joke they’re on neighborhood watch. My cats spend a good portion of their waking hours watching the world outside.

If you’re like me, you add a few kitty condos and cat perches to ensure your feline friends are comfortable when they monitor what mischief those no-good squirrels are up to.
