And deserve them

When you think about it, cats live extraordinary lives. My three cats live in relative comfort. They can spend their days napping in a sunbeam, watching the birds and squirrels in the tree outside their window, napping on a huge bed, or playing with a plethora of cat toys.

There’s even a box in the middle of the floor that I haven’t moved because one or more of them played with it once three weeks ago and I don’t want to upset them by throwing it in the trash.

Yep, they have it pretty good.

They deserve every bit of comfort they crave after what some of their ancestors have been through.

In ancient Egypt, cats were cherished like Gods; as the saying goes, they’ve never forgotten. The cats lived among queens and pharaohs and had monuments dedicated to them.

When the Persians were at war with the Egyptians, they went so far as to release cats on the front lines of the battlefield, knowing the Egyptians wouldn’t want anything to happen to their beloved felines, as cats were seen as sacred in Egyptian culture. That tactic had the desired effect as the Egyptians promptly surrendered saving their beloved cats.
