Cats are curious creatures. They don’t suffer fools lightly or easily and have their own way of doing things. Unlike dogs, they don’t look to their human companions for directions on how to act. In fact, they ignore our directions more than they follow them.

Only the most persistent humans succeed in training their feline companions. More often than not, they train us.

They also have a code of conduct which many people don’t realize.

I’ve learned about this code of conduct through my many years as a cat mom. Gaining these little tidbits of knowledge has greatly contributed to my cat mom success.

If you want to win over the love and companionship of a feline, these are the rules you must follow.

1. If a cat is sitting/napping on your lap, you only move once the cat is ready to get up.

This is a rule that humans have agreed to abide by. As a cat mom, I have sat on my couch, my stomach growling, unable to move because my cat is asleep on my lap. They look so cute when they make those little kitty snores. Still, I wish they’d wait until after dinner to take that cat nap.
