I share my condo with three very curious felines. They are indoor cats so they spend most days napping on the couch or watching the neighborhood from their perch by the sliding glass door.

I imagine their days can become mundane at times. I try to provide as much engagement as possible. Whenever a new box or bag is brought into my condo it gets their full attention.

Any open closet door is like an invitation to Narnia.

They are especially curious about the closet where I keep my wrapping supplies. They love to climb over the boxes and explore the glittery ribbons and bows that are safely tucked away most of the year.

You better believe when the holidays roll around, their ears perk up, their tails stand at attention and they show the wide-eyed curiosity of kittens.

Early in my tenure as a cat mom, I used to buy Christmas trees I’d decorate with cute ornaments and sparkly lights only for them to topple it over in the middle of the night.

There were times they’d just hang out under the tree and look longingly at the branches above them. Other times, they’d scale the tree and try to make it to the top.
