It’s not always about the size of the brain

At first glance, you might say that there is no way cats are smarter than humans. If you compare the brain size of your average feline (cat moms know there are no average felines — but stay with me for a moment) with that of the average human (there are lots of average humans) this would be true.

The cat’s brain weighs on average 25 grams while the brain of a human weighs around 1300 grams.

The comparison ends there.

Right?

Wrong.

There are many ways cats are smarter than humans. We only need to compare the behavior of cats to that of humans to prove my hypothesis that cats are indeed smarter than humans.

Cats will never put themselves in danger on purpose.

Sure there’s the old adage Curiosity killed the cat. But in reality, cats sense danger. Their ears assist the cat in hearing infrasonic vibrations.

If you’ve ever watched a cat scamper low to the ground on the way to finding a safe space that is why. A roll of thunder or a clap of lightning may follow. They hear infrasonic vibrations and sense the change in barometric pressure.
