I recently had to take my blind cat, Scout, to the veterinarian. That annual trip strikes fear in the heart of cats and cat owners alike. My cat, Scout, is no exception. I’d have to rank vet visits as one of her top fears. It’s right up there with the vacuum and nail-trimming time.

Even blind cats know when it’s time to go to the vet.

Maybe Scout heard me grab the carrier from the spare bedroom and place it on the living room carpet. Perhaps she sensed her cat sisters' nervous energy as they both ran for their safe places, I can’t be sure. Scout followed the other cats’ example and attempted to hide under an end table.

I was able to coax her out from under the table and quickly got her into a carrier. She meowed the entire car ride to the veterinarian’s office. She continued to meow during check-in and in the exam room while we waited for the doctor. She eventually calmed down as the veterinarian finished examining her.

Scout is a little overweight.
